The Crest Shop

The Journey cloth of the Hollow Merchant trades in Crests 💠 — the Journey's prestige currency, the twin of Chits. Its wares reach toward a tier beyond Legendary: the prestige gear band.

Where Crests come from​

You earn Crests from the Daily Journey Quest and from Campaign harvests, as you clear nodes and survive battles. Because Crests earn from two sources, their faucet runs a touch richer than Chits — expect their wares to be priced up to match.

The wares​

  • Rare Gear Chest — 1 Crest mints a Rare equipment chest that you open on the Arena surface for a rolled gear piece. Repeatable — the everyday Crest sink.

  • Research Center access — the one-time unlock for the Research Center (your Scroll workshop) costs 10 Chits + 10 Crests together. It's the one ware paid from both cloths at once, so a Crest-rich raider still needs a few Chits from the Kitchen to open it.

  • Ascension Fast-Track — buy a capstone ingredient outright instead of forging it. Pick what you need and the stall mints the exact existing piece your next Ascension cook consumes:

    • Ascension Medallion — 5 — choose your role (Anchor / Striker / Mender) and tier.
    • Ascension Soul — 6 — choose your class and tier.
    • Apotheosis Core — 15 — choose the tier.

    The tier decides the world it binds to: Standard is the generic bind, Rare is Cinderfall, and Mythical lets you pick Stillair or Meridian. This is a shortcut, not a new item — it mints the same Medallion / Soul / Core the forge would, so you skip the grind for a premium.

    The Ascension Fast-Track is sunsetting. After the cutoff the stall stops offering it on both cloths and the forge becomes the only path to a capstone again. Grab any pieces you want before then.

  • Celestial Trace — 25 Crest each. The one material every Celestial Smithing recipe needs, and it exists nowhere else in the game. A full Celestial Relic takes 20 of them.

  • Note Shop — spend Crests on Equipment Notes: a fresh shelf of five generated for you each day, or build your own apex note once a week (priced by its Frequency). It's the second source of Notes beside melting gear at the Scribe — buy one to etch, or flip it on the Bazaar.

  • Guaranteed Mythical equipment — skip the roll for the dedicated grinder.

Celestial Trace stays Locked until you unlock Celestial Smithing

Trace has exactly one use: the ten-step Celestial Smithing chain. Until you buy that unlock from the Research Center for 3 Scrolls, the ware shows as Locked and cannot be bought.

That is deliberate. A full Relic needs 20 Trace — 500 Crests, which is weeks of daily quests. Letting you spend that before you could use any of it would be a trap with no refund.

Fast-track with either currency

The Ascension Fast-Track is offered on both the Crest and Chit cloths at the same prices (5 / 6 / 15). Spend whichever currency you have more of — a Chit-rich cook and a Crest-rich raider each reach the capstone the same way.

Where to find it​

The Crest cloth is the middle of the Hollow Merchant's three. The Note Shop and Team Slots sit here alongside Celestial Trace and the Ascension Fast-Track.
