Step 4 — Your First Fighter

The cooking side has a partner: fighters. An Avatar is a character you build and lead into battle in the Journey. This step gets you from zero fighters to a team of three.

Where your first fighters come from

When you finish onboarding, the game grants you a one-time 105 Avatar Essence — the fuel for forging. That's enough to forge your starter team of three (25 Essence each) with a little left over. You don't have to buy anything: the Essence is already there waiting. See Essence.

1. Forge on the Roster

Open the Roster tab at play.rsnc.network and tap Forge Avatar. Forging is instant — pick a role (Anchor / Striker / Mender), spend 25 Avatar Essence, and your new fighter mints right there. No cook, no timer, no trip to the Kitchen.

The new-player walkthrough guides you through forging three fighters at once — one of each role: an Anchor, a Mender, and a Striker. That's your starter team. (Everything except the role — class, element, stats — is rolled for you; you grow the fighter from there.) See Forging Avatars for the full flow and the premium "pick the class" option.

2. Gear them up and set their skills

A fresh fighter is battle-ready, but two quick, cheap upgrades make it noticeably stronger:

  • Equipment — slot the gear you already have into a fighter's five role-matched slots for instant stat boosts.
  • Skills — every skill a fighter learns is always active in combat, so a role-appropriate kit is pure upside.

Save the slow-burn paths — Essence upgrades and Ascension — for later. Gear and skills first.

3. You now have a team of three

The Journey is played with a team of three Avatars. Your starter trio (Anchor + Mender + Striker) is a balanced, ready-to-go composition — exactly what you want for your first run. You can see the whole roster and manage teams on the Roster tab. For how classes and roles fit together, see Team Comps.
