Cook chains — the flow of ingredients
The Kitchen is a dependency graph: raw materials feed refine cooks, refined materials feed assemblies, and assemblies feed the finished goods. It's easy to lose track of how many steps back a Mythical output really goes. This page lays the flow out end to end.
Every chain below is derived from the live recipe data (kitchen_recipes). Recipes that aren't published yet are called out where relevant.
The whole loop, at a glance
Read it left to right: you supply raw materials (from cultivators, the Journey, or packs), optionally refine them up the rarity ladder, then cook them into the thing you actually want. The further right the output, the more steps — and the more raw supply — it takes.
The ingredient rarity ladder
Every ingredient climbs the same two-step ladder. You never get a Rare or Mythical ingredient directly from a normal cultivator — you refine your way up:
- Refine takes 8 Standard of a family and returns 1 Rare (each family has its own recipe, around Kitchen Level 16–19, 85% base success).
- Crystallise takes 6 Rare and returns 1 Mythical (Kitchen Level 40, 70% base success).
So one Mythical ingredient is worth 6 Rare = 48 Standard of that family — the same value ladder cultivators use (1 Rare = 8 Standard; 1 Mythical = 48 Standard). Both steps can also roll a rarity-upgrade, so a high-Elegance kitchen occasionally jumps a tier for free.
A normal cultivator's output rarity is set by your avatars, not your seeds — so the cheapest way to a Mythical ingredient is to farm Standards and climb this ladder, not to chase rare seeds. See Cultivators.
Worked example — the Sweet family (Stellar Honey)
The same ladder exists for all ten food ingredients (Stellar Honey, Astral Apple, Harmonic Herbs, Lunar Lettuce, Void Truffle, Echo Spores, Pulse Eggs, Photon Fish, Resonant Crystals, Quantum Salt) and for the Forge material families.
The five ingredient families
Raw ingredients come in five families, two ingredients each. A cultivator of a family harvests that family; refine/crystallise climb the ladder within it.
Where the chains lead
Once you have ingredients at the right tier, they feed the finished-goods cooks. The big chains:
| Chain | Raw inputs → … → output | Where it's documented |
|---|---|---|
| Snacks (buff dishes) | Standard ingredients → a flash dish (e.g. Pulse Bread → fills 5% of your weekly AS cap) | Recipes & Cooking |
| Avatar Essence | ingredients / gear → Essence-synthesis cooks, cultivator gear drops, Journey | Essence |
| Avatars | Essence (+ Aspects for premium) → Forge New Avatar cook | Forging Avatars |
| Avatar Ascension | Ingots + Sparks + Apotheosis Core + Soul + Medallion → Ascend cook | Ascension |
| SkyScape (Sonentius event) | ore → ingots → Aetherspore → Fragments → the build + two Legendaries | SkyScape |
The Sonentius / SkyScape chain (event preview)
The deepest published chain in the game is the SkyScape build — a full raw → refined → produced → assembled ladder that ends in two Legendary tools. Because it's the clearest example of a long multi-step chain, its diagram lives on its own page:
