Chef's Challenge

The Daily Chef's Challenge is a set of 5 featured recipes picked for you. Cook — and claim — all five of today's recipes and you earn 1 Chef's Chit, a Kitchen currency. It's your daily nudge toward recipes you might otherwise skip.

Open to everyone

Chef's Challenge is live for all players — the amber pill appears in your Kitchen header once you're signed in. No operator flag, no waitlist.

How to engage

  1. In the Kitchen header, tap the amber Chef's Challenge pill (it carries a progress counter, e.g. 3 / 5). It opens the challenge modal.
  2. The modal lists today's 5 recipes. Each row has a one-tap Start that opens the same Cook Start flow you use everywhere else — your Tune-In level and equipped gear feed the usual success, time, and rarity previews. There's no special cooking path for the challenge.
  3. A row flips to a ✓ (Cooked today) once you've cooked and claimed it — not just started it. A cook that's still on its timer doesn't count until you come back and claim it.
  4. Clear all five and the reward lands: your Chef's Chit balance shows next to the pill, with a "Challenge complete — Chef's Chit awarded!" banner.
Claim, don't just start

Because a row only checks off after you claim, plan the day's five so you can circle back and claim each one before the daily reset.

How your five are chosen

Your five are picked at random, just for you — the draw is personal, so two players almost never get the same set. Two rules shape it:

  • Only recipes you can actually cook. The pool is everything from level 1 up to your Kitchen level + 4, so the challenge never hands you something locked. As you level, the ceiling rises with you — leveling up unlocks harder challenge recipes, but the top of the band always stays a reachable stretch, not an impossible wall.
  • Stable for the day. Your set is snapshotted when the day rolls over (or the first time you open the challenge). Leveling up midday won't reshuffle your five — what you saw this morning is what you finish tonight.

They're always recipes that make a fresh thing from ingredients — cooked dishes, kitchen equipment, Avatar gear, cultivator builds, and Avatar materials like glyphs, ascension items (Souls, Medallions, Apotheosis Cores), and essence synthesis. You supply your own ingredients, same as any cook.

Glyphs show up less often

Glyph recipes make up most of the eligible pool and burn Avatar Essence to cook — which adds up fast when you have to finish all five. So glyphs are down-weighted in the draw (~40% less likely) than a flat random pick would give. They can still appear; they're just rarer, to keep a full day's challenge from quietly costing a pile of Essence.

What's never in the pool

The upgrade cooks — the ones that improve something you already own — are excluded: gear reforges ("Reforge …"), cultivator upgrades (Cultivate / Ascend), avatar ascension and essence upgrades, forging a new avatar, and ingredient "Refine …" / "Crystallise …" tier-ups. Those are targeted, one-off cooks — not a recipe everyone can just cook that day — so they can't be a challenge recipe. Time-limited flash snacks are out too, since they aren't cookable at every hour of the day.

Reset

The challenge is daily — a fresh set of five recipes rotates in at 00:00 UTC, the same daily boundary the Mailbox and Daily Trials reset on. Progress and the Chef's Chit reward are per-day, so finish all five before the reset.
