World loot & gear materials
Each world in the Journey drops its own gear materials — the ingredients you forge into that world's gear line. This page is the map of what drops where, so you never have to open every Journey one at a time.
Want the whole picture in one place? Jump straight to the master table — every world's materials, every tier, on one screen. The sections after it explain the pattern and give the per-world detail.
The rule that ties it together: a world's gear is forged from that world's loot. Stormswept gear is forged from Stillair materials, Barnacled gear from Meridian Deep materials, and so on. So the fastest way to gear up in a world is to farm that world's nodes.
Everything below drops on Normal — the only tier a normal player can pick today. When Hard and Nightmare open they raise how often the higher tiers drop; see Run Mode. Nothing here requires a tier that isn't live.
Every material, every world — the master table
The whole map in one place. Each world drops its own materials; the tier you roll decides which one, and the node decides how often — which is the same rule in every world, so it lives in the column headers:
- Standard — common on every node.
- Rare — uncommon on any node (each world's marquee drop).
- Mythical — from the world's Boss (node 16); richest when you Sweep a 3-starred capstone.
| World · gear line | Material line | Standard — every node | Rare — any node (marquee) | Mythical — Boss · capstone Sweep |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Cinderfall · Ashen | Classic forge + kitchen ¹ | Ore · Slag · Shard · Spark → Ingot · Plating · Gem · Rune | Rare grade of the same (drops on nodes) | Mythic grade of the same (Boss) |
| The Stillair · Stormswept | Ore (mineral) | Galestone | Stormsteel | Tempest Core |
| Bloom (organic) | Windmoss | Storm Seed | Skybloom | |
| Meridian Deep · Barnacled | Ore (mineral) | Coral Ore | Nautilite | Abyssal Pearl |
| Bloom (organic) | Kelpweave | Irregular Bubble | Deepbloom | |
| Sonentius (event) · SkyScape | Mineral (forge) | Sonentite Ore · Sonentius Slag | Voidsteel Ore | Aetheric Crystal |
| Organic (kitchen) | Xeno-Protein | Living Resin | (none — no Mythical organic) |
¹ Cinderfall keeps the shared classic forge materials rather than a bespoke Ore/Bloom pair — the same Ore/Slag/Shard/Spark and refined Ingot/Plating/Gem/Rune used across the whole game. Its kitchen ingredients (Earth & Protein family) drop at Standard on Cinderfall nodes; their Rare/Mythical tiers come from refining the Standard up the ladder (see Cook Chains), not a world-specific drop. Full classic-material sources: Item Sources — Forge materials.
Pick your world, pick the tier you need, and the column header tells you where to farm it. Need a Mythical (Tempest Core, Skybloom, Deepbloom, Aetheric Crystal…)? That's the world's Boss — beat or Sweep node 16. Need lots of a Rare marquee (Storm Seed, Irregular Bubble…)? Any node in that world will do.
The two material lines
Every world (from The Stillair onward) drops two families, each in Standard / Rare / Mythical:
| Line | Kind | What it's for | Drops as |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ore | Mineral | Refined into that world's Ingot, the metal backbone of a piece | a forge material |
| Bloom | Organic | The flavor input the forge folds into every piece | a kitchen ingredient |
Both lines resolve from the node's loot preview — an honest "1 of N from a family pool" (see Node Types). Which concrete material you get depends on the tier that rolls and the world you're in.
Where each tier drops
The pattern is the same in every world, so once you know it you can read any world's faucet:
| Tier | Ore (mineral) | Bloom (organic) |
|---|---|---|
| Standard | Common on every node | Common on every node |
| Rare | Uncommon on every node; better on Elites, Bosses, and capstone Sweeps | Uncommon on every node — the marquee drop (Storm Seed, Irregular Bubble, …) |
| Mythical | From the Boss (node 16); richest when you Sweep a capstone | From the Boss (node 16) |
Two things worth knowing:
- The Rare Bloom is a world's signature drop. It's uncommon but reachable on any node in the world, so you don't have to grind the Boss for it.
- The Mythical materials come from the Boss. Both the Mythical Ore (the world's "signature core") and the Mythical Bloom drop from the node-16 Boss — which is exactly what a Mythical-tier forge needs. Beating (or Sweeping a 3-starred) Boss is the way to Mythical gear.
The live worlds in detail
Three seasonal worlds (Cinderfall · The Stillair · Meridian Deep) plus the Sonentius event world are dropping materials today.
Cinderfall — the Ashen line
Cinderfall is the entry world. It keeps the classic forge materials — the shared Ore · Slag · Spark · Ingot forge families plus the standard kitchen ingredients — rather than a bespoke Ore/Bloom pair. Its gear line is Ashen, the baseline power band (old, world-less gear reads as Ashen too). For where the classic materials come from, see Item Sources — Forge materials.
The Stillair — the Stormswept line
"The sky that hoards its storms." A becalmed sky-sea whose Gale-wrights harvest motion itself.
| Line | Standard | Rare (marquee) | Mythical |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ore (mineral) | Galestone | Stormsteel | Tempest Core |
| Bloom (organic) | Windmoss | Storm Seed | Skybloom |
- Storm Seed — a seed that refuses to land — is Stillair's marquee Rare Bloom, reachable on any Stillair node.
- Skybloom (a flower cut from the eye of a storm) and Tempest Core (a whole tempest crushed to a fist) are the Mythical pair — both from the Stillair Boss.
Meridian Deep — the Barnacled line
"The city that grows its tools." A sunless trench-city whose Barnacle-wardens cultivate rather than mine.
| Line | Standard | Rare (marquee) | Mythical |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ore (mineral) | Coral Ore | Nautilite | Abyssal Pearl |
| Bloom (organic) | Kelpweave | Irregular Bubble | Deepbloom |
- Irregular Bubble — a bubble that will not rise — is Meridian Deep's marquee Rare Bloom.
- Deepbloom (an anglerfish-lure flower that blooms in absolute dark) and Abyssal Pearl (one pearl in ten thousand oysters) are the Mythical pair — both from the Meridian Deep Boss.
Sonentius — the SkyScape event world
The event world. A hostile mining planet whose materials are earned only — never on the marketplace. Sonentius uses a mineral / organic split like the newer worlds, with one twist: there is no Mythical organic.
| Line | Standard | Rare (marquee) | Mythical |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mineral (forge) | Sonentite Ore · Sonentius Slag | Voidsteel Ore | Aetheric Crystal |
| Organic (kitchen) | Xeno-Protein | Living Resin | (none) |
- Sonentius drops pay ×3 quantity — it's a time-boxed event world.
- Its chapter-4 finale is all-boss: the first clear hands a guaranteed Mythical bundle, but repeats and Sweeps there grant nothing.
- Beyond the Journey nodes, Sonentius also has producers (the Sonentite Mine mints ore passively; the Resonance Foundry is the only source of Cultivated Aetherspore) and refine cooks (Smelt Sonentite, Forge Voidsteel). The full builder loop, node-by-node danger, and gear chain are on the SkyScape guide.
Future seasonal worlds each bring their own Ore + Bloom set — Hollowroot's Verdant Vine, the Rimewaste's Rimewreathed, the Gloaming's Endorned, and more. They light up as each world goes live; only the worlds listed above drop materials today.
How materials become gear
Every world uses the same forge shape — only the world's own materials change:
- Morph — refine an Ore into that world's Ingot: Base Ingot + World Ore → World Ingot.
- Forge — combine the world Ingot with your role material and the world's Bloom into a finished piece: World Ingot + Spark + role material + World Bloom → the gear piece. A Mythical piece also needs +1 of the world's Mythical Ore (its "signature core").
The role material is fixed across every world and matches the piece's role (gear is role-locked):
| Role | Role material |
|---|---|
| Striker | Plating |
| Anchor | Rune |
| Mender | Gem |
So a Mythical Barnacled Anchor piece, for example, is forged from a Mythical Barnacled Ingot (from Coral Ore family via Abyssal Pearl-grade refining) + Mythical Spark + Mythical Rune + Deepbloom, with an Abyssal Pearl as the signature core. Every one of those materials drops from Meridian Deep — the Ore and the signature Pearl from its Boss, the Deepbloom from its Boss, and the base Spark/Rune from the wider material economy.
The base forge shape above is free forever. Cooking a specific world's gear line unlocks with that world's chapter book — you assemble it by cooking 5 of that world's Pages (a fungible collectible that drops as you play the world; collect five, cook, get the book). One book opens a whole craft's world block, and players already cooking a world's recipes keep them automatically. The world-less base recipes are never gated — a book only widens you into a world.
