Loot & rewards
The Journey feeds the same economy as everything else — there's no separate "Journey currency." Every attempt can pay a mix of the rewards below, and your two real decisions are which node to farm for the item you want and when to Sweep instead of fighting.
What an attempt can pay
| Reward | What it's for |
|---|---|
| Battle XP (bXP) | Raises your personal Battle Level — your PvE rank. |
| Activity Score | Feeds your weekly RSNC bounty payout. Journey has its own 5,000 AS / week cap (see below). |
| RSNC | Paid one-time on Elite and Boss first-clears and star milestones. |
| Kitchen ingredients | Cook them into recipes in the Kitchen. |
| Ascension Aspects | Feed the ascension path that raises a fighter's stat ceiling. |
| Equipment / gear | Elites and Bosses have the highest chance; higher Dissonance raises the rate. |
Raising your Dissonance — the difficulty dial — increases enemy power and, in step, your drop rates. Push it as high as your team can reliably clear.
Where a gear-slot reward would drop, the Journey grants Avatar Essence — the material that forges and deepens your fighters. So a routine "gear" drop lands as Essence you spend in the Forge, not a wearable part.
The equipment chests you earn as milestone rewards are a separate path — they're filled with wearable gear that matches the world you earned them in: a Stillair chest gives Stormswept gear, a Meridian Deep chest gives Barnacled gear, a Cinderfall chest gives Ashen gear. Later worlds drop a higher power band, so it's worth farming chests in the newest world you've unlocked.
World gear materials
Beyond the shared economy above, each world drops its own gear materials — an Ore line and a Bloom line (Galestone, Storm Seed, Deepbloom, and the rest) that forge into that world's gear. Which tier drops on which node, and the full per-world material list, is on its own page: World Loot & Materials. The short version: Standard and Rare materials drop across a world's nodes (the Rare Bloom is each world's marquee drop), and the Mythical materials come from the world's Boss.
Where the big rewards land
Two moments in a run pay noticeably more than a routine node:
- Victory (node 16 — chapter clear): roughly two equipment-grade rewards (delivered as Avatar Essence) plus bXP. Finishing the chapter is the run's payoff.
- Checkpoints (after nodes 4, 8, 12): roughly one loot drop plus bXP each, on top of restoring your team.
- Elite and Boss first-clears carry a one-time RSNC bonus — Bosses pay the most, the single richest moment in a chapter.
The weekly Activity Score cap
Playing the Journey earns Activity Score, which drives your weekly RSNC bounty — up to a 5,000-per-week Journey cap.
- That cap is separate from other surfaces. Arena has its own independent 5,000 cap, so you never have to choose between PvE and PvP for your weekly earnings.
- Once you're over the Journey cap, extra clears still give loot, stars, and progress — they just stop adding to that week's Activity Score.
Sweep — the farming tool
Once a node is 3-starred and first-cleared, you unlock Sweep on it: instead of playing the fight out, you batch it.
- Resolve 1 to 10 runs at once, at a chosen scope — a single node, a whole sprint, or a whole chapter.
- You pay the node's full energy cost per run — twice what it costs to play that node by hand (playing by hand is half price). Sweep trades the extra energy for skipping the fight.
- Sweep pays baseline loot: it skips the Attuned bonus that hand-play earns, and its drop rates are reduced versus a live clear — the trade for skipping the fight.
- No combat to watch; Sweep is purely for farming ingredients and Essence.
Sweep is how veterans keep the Kitchen and their Roster stocked without re-watching a fight they've already mastered. Because it needs a 3-star first-clear, it also rewards actually beating a node cleanly before you settle in to farm it.
Two fairness rules worth knowing
- Bigger nodes cost more energy but drop proportionally more, so no node is a secret "best farm" for raw value. Which node to grind is about which items you want (ingredients, Essence, Aspects), not efficiency.
- One-time rewards are always safe. First-clears, stars, and milestones can't be re-earned, and retries or losses never claw them back — back-filling old content for completion always pays full.
