Harmonize

Harmonize spends Avatar Essence to permanently raise one gear piece's Frequency capacity โ€” the budget that decides how many Notes that piece can hold.

Every piece is minted with a Frequency capacity it's stuck with. Harmonize unsticks it. Each Harmony level adds +10 Frequency, up to H10 (+100), and the level shows as a badge (H1 โ€ฆ H10) beside the piece.

Live for everyone

Harmonize is open to all players โ€” no unlock, no book, no research. If you own gear and you own Essence, you can Harmonize today.

Where to find itโ€‹

Open any gear piece's inspect screen โ€” from your Avatar's loadout, the equipment drawer, or the Kitchen rack โ€” and pick the Harmonize tab. The panel shows the piece's current H#, its base and effective Frequency, the Essence cost of the next level, and your Essence balance.

Press Harmonize and it resolves immediately: the Essence leaves your balance and the capacity goes up in one step. There's no cook slot, no timer, and it can't fail.

What it costsโ€‹

The curve is deliberately cheap to taste and expensive to max โ€” a season-long sink, not a weekend's work.

16,500 Essence takes one piece from H0 to H10 (+100 Frequency). A full five-slot loadout at H10 is about 82,500 Essence โ€” an endgame project, funded by the Essence that deep Dissonance pushes and group quests pay out.

The first level is the one to notice: 50 Essence for +10 Frequency is often a whole extra Standard Note on a piece you already use.

The rulesโ€‹

  • Raise-only. Harmony never goes down, and nothing you've already earned is reduced. It adds capacity on top of the piece's rolled band โ€” including the Dissonance-chest bonus.
  • Any piece qualifies. Battle gear and Kitchen rack equipment, at any rarity. A Standard piece can be Harmonized just like a Celestial one.
  • Per piece, not per account. Harmony lives on the individual item, so it travels with the gear and stops at H10 on each piece.
  • It raises capacity, not stats. Harmonize doesn't buff the piece directly โ€” it buys you room to etch more Notes, and the Notes are the power.
  • Cancel a Bazaar listing first. A piece that's listed for sale can't be Harmonized โ€” you'll see "Cancel this piece's Bazaar listing before Harmonizing it."
  • It's an Essence sink you share with the Scribe. Every 100 Essence spent Harmonizing is 100 you didn't spend transcribing gear into a Note, forging, or ascending โ€” that's the trade.

Why it mattersโ€‹

Harmonize is the player-power axis the Dissonance ladder scales against. The loop is:

clear deeper โ†’ earn more Essence โ†’ Harmonize for more Frequency โ†’ hold more Notes โ†’ clear deeper.

The far end of Nightmare โ€” around Dissonance 75 โ€” expects gear that is not just Mythical but Harmonized and Note-loaded. A maxed-Mythical-but-un-Harmonized team sits comfortably above D41 and short of that ceiling; Harmonize is what closes the gap. Past that, Cacophony (76+) stops paying higher-tier gear and starts paying the push itself.

Which pieces to Harmonize firstโ€‹

  • Your keepers, not your current best. Harmony is permanent on that item, so put it into a piece you expect to run all season โ€” a Legendary (base 100) or Celestial (base 150) frame, or a high-roll Mythical you're not going to replace.
  • Watch the slot cap too. Frequency isn't the only limit โ€” a Standard piece holds 2 Notes no matter how much Frequency you buy it. Harmonizing past your slot cap does nothing. See Note slots.
  • Stop where the next Note fits. You don't need H10. Harmonize until the specific Note you want to etch fits, then bank the rest of your Essence.
