Dissonant
Making a gear piece Dissonant spends Dissonant Cores to permanently add +20% to that piece's own stat contribution. It's the darkest of the gear elevations: the Cores don't tune the piece to the song — they overload it. The piece's song comes apart, and what's left rings louder than harmony ever dared.
Once a piece is Dissonant it's renamed "Dissonant <name>", carries the ⟁ mark, and shows a
distinct fuchsia tint wherever it appears.
What it does
- +20% to that piece's own contribution. The bonus is a fifth of what that piece already brings — its stat roll, its world band, and its durability baseline — so a Mythical or Celestial frame gains more raw power from Dissonant than a Standard one does. It is bracket-bounded, not a flat number bolted on.
- It stacks — no tradeoff. Dissonant sits on top of Harmonize and your etched Notes. It doesn't cost you Frequency, slots, or anything else.
- Once per piece. A piece can be made Dissonant a single time. There's nothing to re-buy and nothing to top up — the stamp is permanent.
- Raise-only. Like Harmonize, nothing you've already earned is reduced. Dissonant only ever adds.
What it costs
Making one piece Dissonant costs 30 Dissonant Cores. Cores now drop across every open world's Concord Dissonance boards, not just Sonentius — a low background chance on any clear, and a much higher rate on a Dissonant-node clear that rises with the Dissonance you dared. Core drops are earned by every player and roll on every clear, independent of your Concord score — so a grind day always feeds your Core stash. See Dissonant Cores for the faucets.
Where to find it
Open a gear piece's inspect screen — from your Avatar's loadout, the equipment drawer, or the Kitchen rack — and pick the Dissonant tab. The panel shows the piece, how many Cores you hold against the 30 needed, where Cores come from, and that it stacks with Harmonize + Notes. Press Make Dissonant and it resolves immediately — the Cores leave your balance, the piece is renamed, and the elevation reveal plays.
Dissonant elevation is live for all players — you don't need to be deep in the Aftermath to use it, just to hold the 30 Cores. It's still the far end of the gear-power curve, so it pays most on the keepers you'll run all season (below), but the door is open the moment you've farmed the Cores.
Which pieces to make Dissonant
- Your highest-contribution keepers. Because the +20% is a share of the piece's own power, spend it on a Celestial (base 150) or Legendary (base 100) frame, or a high-roll Mythical you'll run all season — the same "keepers, not your current best" rule as Harmonize.
- After Harmonize + Notes, not instead of them. Dissonant multiplies what the piece already contributes, so it pays most on a piece you've already Harmonized and Note-loaded.
