Packs & Drops — What Comes From Where
Items reach you three ways. Knowing which is which clears up almost every "wait, where did this come from?" question.
- Onboarding gifts — packs the game gives you automatically as you hit milestones. You don't buy these; they appear in your inventory.
- Packs you open — packs you buy or earn, then open for a roll of items.
- Ongoing drops — items that arrive over time as you play (daily mailbox, producer harvests, cooking, Journey loot).
Pack rarity odds are tunable, so treat the numbers below as a guide — the in-app pack screen always shows the current odds. Item contents of the onboarding gifts are fixed.
1. Onboarding gifts (auto-granted)
You never buy these. They're granted as you hit milestones and wait in My Perks until you open them. Contents are fixed (aside from the "random producer/equipment" picks noted).
| Pack | When you earn it | What's inside |
|---|---|---|
| Welcome Pack | Your new-player starter gift | A starter producer + starter ingredients + 2,000 RSNC |
| Apprentice Pack | Reaching Tune-In level 5 | A Forge starter kit to get your first Avatar cook going |
| Novice Pack | Reaching Tune-In level 10 | A second producer + Rare ingredients + a Rare equipment piece |
The 2,000 RSNC in the Welcome Pack posts to your balance the moment you open it — it doesn't wait for a weekly payout or compete for a share.
How to open them: go to the My Perks tab at play.rsnc.network/my-perks and hit Open Pack. Items mint into your Kitchen/Storage and any RSNC posts to your balance. Each onboarding gift is once-only — lifetime caps apply, so you can never receive one twice.
See the full first-session walkthrough in Start Here → Open your starter kit and First Steps.
2. Packs you open (rolls)
These you buy in the marketplace (or earn). Buying a pack auto-opens it — there's no "open later" step; you get an instant reveal of its contents, rolled by rarity. The openable pack types are seed packs · starter packs · equipment gacha · mystery packs · material packs.
Seed Packs — ingredient seeds
Seeds are the ingredients you plant in a producer's sub-slots to grow more of that ingredient. (Producers themselves come from the onboarding gifts and Starter packs, not Seed Packs.) Each pack rolls seeds across one or more ingredient families.
| Tier | Seeds | Families covered | Rarity odds (Standard / Rare / Mythic) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard | 15 | 1 | 95% / 5% / — |
| Rare | 25 | 2 | 30% / 60% / 10% |
| Mythic | 35 | 3 | — / 50% / 50% |
The pool — 5 families, 2 ingredients each, rolled to the tier above:
| Family | Ingredients |
|---|---|
| Sweet | Stellar Honey · Astral Apple |
| Vegetal | Harmonic Herbs · Lunar Lettuce |
| Earth | Void Truffle · Echo Spores |
| Protein | Photon Fish · Pulse Eggs |
| Crystal | Resonant Crystals · Quantum Salt |
Material Packs — Forge materials
Refined materials used in recipes and the Forge. Each pack rolls materials across four families.
| Tier | Materials | Rarity odds (Standard / Rare / Mythic) |
|---|---|---|
| Standard | 15 | 95% / 5% / — |
| Rare | 25 | 40% / 55% / 5% |
| Mythic | 35 | — / 60% / 40% |
The pool — four families (metal · stone · crystal · rune), eight materials in all, each in Standard / Rare / Mythic: Ingot · Plating · Ore · Slag · Gem · Shard · Rune · Spark.
Equipment packs — one piece per slot
Equipment comes from single-piece Mystery packs, one per equipment slot — Primary · Secondary · Vest · Cap · Gloves · Tool — each 13,000 RSNC. A pack rolls one piece at 70% / 25% / 5% (Standard / Rare / Mythic).
(The older multi-piece gear gacha — six avatar forge-gear slots — is retired.)
Mystery Pack — a bit of everything
Three picks. Each pick first rolls a category, then a rarity within it — so you might pull ingredients, a Forge material, or a piece of equipment.
- Category odds per pick: Ingredient 60% · Material 30% · Equipment 10%
- Rarity within category: Ingredient → 80/18/2 · Material → 70/25/5 · Equipment → 70/25/5 (Standard / Rare / Mythic)
Each category draws from the same pools as the matching pack above (ingredients ↔ Seed pool, materials ↔ Material pool, equipment ↔ gear/equipment).
Starter Packs — one-time bundles
Fixed Standard bundles to get a new Kitchen rolling. Lifetime cap: 1 each (you can only ever open one).
| Pack | Contents |
|---|---|
| Starter Pack | 1 Standard producer + 10 Standard ingredients + 1 Standard equipment |
| Super Starter Pack | 1–2 Standard producers + 10–15 Standard ingredients + 1–2 Standard equipment |
The producer is a random one of the five archetypes (see the reference below).
Reference: the producers you can get
Producers come from the onboarding gifts, Starter packs, and mailbox rolls (never Seed Packs). There are five archetypes — one per ingredient family — each with a Standard, Rare, and Mythical form:
| Family | Standard | Rare | Mythical |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sweet | Astral Beehive | Astral Hive Cluster | Solar Orchard Hive |
| Vegetal | Frequency Garden | Tideway Greenhouse | Resonance Biodome |
| Earth | Echo Mushroom Cluster | Subsonic Fungarium | Mycelium Choir |
| Protein | Photon Aquarium | Tidal Hatchery | Genesis Spawn Pool |
| Crystal | Crystalline Reactor | Tectonic Refinery | Singularity Geode |
A producer only accepts seeds from its own family. See Producers & Sub-Slots for what each yields.
3. Quest Packs — not loot, an earning unlock
Quest Packs are different. They don't contain items — they're a weekly perk that unlocks more event categories you can earn Activity Score from (threads, voice, on-chain, etc.). If you bought one expecting producers or gear, that's the mix-up this page exists to prevent.
See Quest Packs for the three tiers and what each unlocks.
4. Ongoing drops (no pack to open)
These arrive as you play — there's no pack token, items just show up.
- Daily Mailbox — 1–5 free items a day (ingredients, materials, occasionally equipment/producers). Rarity scales with your Tune-In level.
- Producer harvests — your planted producers mint ingredients on a timer; come back and Claim.
- Cooking — recipes turn ingredients into snacks, buffs, and gear.
- Journey loot — running the solo campaign drops ingredients, materials, and gear.
